Oprah refusing to invite Palin to protect Obama?

It sure as hell seems that way.

Looks like the Queen of daytime media has gotten herself in to a bit of a pickle. Considering Oprah’s audience is mostly female one would think that she would invite Palin on to speak to her about being the first female on a Republican ticket, or how energizing she has been to the Republican base. However, you would be wrong if you thought Oprah wanted to do that.

Why?

Because she’s already endorsed Barack “I organized the hell out of a crapload of communities” Obama. So, by inviting Palin on the show she obviously feels that she would be damaging Obama in the process, and the funny thing is that she is right. Sarah Palin, who is not even Obama’s direct competition, has been robbing The Anointed One’s spotlight ever since her name first appeared on the scene, and Oprah knows that having Palin on the show would definately open up a chance for Palin to knock Ole’ Barry down a notch.

However, here’s the pickle:

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider explains. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”

One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!

So, Oprah, who has adamantly sided only with Obama now finds herself stuck between her own political preference and her audience. She is actually risking alienating many of her own watcher-base to protect the Obamessiah. However, if this executive is correct then Oprah could see a backlash large enough to force her to extend an invitation to Palin.

Is the the best election ever? or is it the BEST ELECTION EVER?!

UPDATE: It would seem that Oprah has issued a comment to TMZ about the story that appeared on Drudge about Oprah refusing to invite Palin.

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Except for the fact that Obama has been on her show. Twice. However, it should be noted that he did make those appearances before he was running for President.

There is one thing I would like to add to this story though. I think that Oprah is full of it and she is lying through her damn teeth. If Oprah has not wanted to use her show as a platform for any of the candidates she shouldn’t have even publicly endorsed Obama in the first place. She knew full well that her popularity would help give Obama a boost in the polls during the primaries and that’s why she went and met with him on stage and then gave her announcement. She didn’t have to physically make the announcement on her show because she knew that her popularity, whether she is sitting on set or not, is paramount.

She’s basically trying to claim that her “show” is politically unbiased while she isn’t. The only problem is that Oprah IS her show. You can’t publicly endorse a candidate and give speeches about him while claiming that your keeping your show unbiased. It just doesn’t work that way.

Personally? I think she’s afraid of Palin as is most of the left these days.

I get pretty damn tired of all the media types trying to tell me what I think and feel. From the ‘rising sun’ picture of obama on rolling stone to oprah’s ‘crying my eyes out.’ isnt she the one who gave tom cruise the rope to hang himself, then tried to do a follow up to show how ‘normal’ he and his wife are? Why do we listen to these ppl?!?
Palin has guts. Even though we don’t agree on everything, it’ll be nice to have someone around who has some real guts.

I think times are a chang’n. Just not the direction Oprah thought when she decided to put her career on the line, which she will soon find out. You can’t have it both ways. How stupid does she think we are? As with most of the Hollywood types, she thought her popularity would carry her (and Obama) through whatever the backlash might be. I DON’T THINK SO OPRAH! I stopped watching Oprah a while ago, for just this issue. Now I am spreading the news…No more O magazines either. Perhaps her pocket book will bring her to her senses.

Ever since she endorsed Obama I stopped watching her show. I didn’t really think she did it because she think Obama is qualified. I think because Obama is black. Yes, that was her primary reason of endorsing him, the rest were just secondary. I don’t patronize her show nor believe in her so called charity. She may have helped people but she makes sure she shows it on TV, you know she has to make money out of her charity plus boosting her show rating. That’s how she became a millionaire.

Oprah is a billionaire who doesn’t have to give in to right wing whining! Barack is raising more funds than ever despite the anointing of Queen Sarah by the Republicans!

    Obama/Biden 08!

Classic example of a woman feeling threatened by another woman. Palin is getting all the attention, and she doesn’t want to be overshadowed.

I noticed that you did not put my response to your blog. No room for a contrary view. Well, that’s America.

Oprah should remember how quickly Michael Vick’s finances dwindled. She should be careful lest good friend Gayle will have to loan her money one day soon.

Lesson to learn: Anger your viewing public enough and watch your bank account shrink.

p.s. I, too, am now boycotting her show. To put BamaMan on, make a POLITICAL announcement that she’s backing him, and then holler that the reason she won’t put Palin on is b/c she doesn’t want her show to be a political arena.

She MADE her show a political arena when she announced ON her show, with Obama present, that she was backing him.

I actually quit watching her show back when her and her bff Gayle went cross country and had the ‘whitey’ conversation in the car. To hear her talking about how her grandmother would be proud that she had ‘good white folks working for her now”…… that was the day I stopped liking Oprah.

I always thought she was neutral about race, and thought her to have a stronger mind than to allow someone to brainwash her from her Baptist roots to whatever ‘cult’ it is that she clings to now.

    I was wrong.

And no, I’m not a Palin supporter although I do like McCain. However, this isn’t about who I support – it’s about who I am not supporting any longer.
Oprah has shown her true “colors” and it’s a shade I don’t much care for.
