The End is Nigh!
January 31, 2008
Well, not really but it sure as heck feels like it.
McCain won florida, Schwarzenegger (or however he spells it these days) endorsed him, and I’m pretty sure that I heard on the radio this morning that Giuliani endorsed him as well.
Sucks.
I hate McCain. Really, I do. the guy is probably the biggest RINO in our entire government system and I could not think of a worst republican to run for President. Well, maybe Larry Craig would be a worst Prez but that joke has been worn out enough now hasn’t it? Although I’m sure he would have a wide stance on certain foreign policies.
Yeah, I thought that pun was crap too.
The only way I would vote for McCain is….well…there isn’t any way I could do it and not need a scolding hot shower afterwards, but if Hillary was the democratic nominee then I might be able to pull the lever for him. I might also sever my own hand afterwards so that the taint does not infect my very soul, but I’m talking about the lesser of two evils here.
Still, I may just take the safe route and not vote for President and just handle the elections for my local and state offices. There IS always that option.
Breakfast for the Mind
January 31, 2008
Early morning quote to get the mind working.
“What does this desire and this inability of ours proclaim to us but that there was once in man a genuine happiness, of which nothing now survives but the mark and the empty outline; and this he vainly tries to fill from everything that lies around him, seeking from things that are not there the help that he does not get from those that are present? Yet they are quite incapable of filling the gap, because this infinite gulf can only be filled by an infinite and immutable object - that is, God, Himself. He alone is man’s veritable good, and since man has deserted Him it is a strange thing that there is nothing in nature that has not been capable of taking His place for man: stars, sky, earth, elements, plants, cabbages, leeks, animals, insects, calves, serpents, fever, plague, war, famine, vices, adultery, incest. And since he has lost the true good, everything can equally appear to him as such - even his own destruction, though that is so contrary at once to God, to reason, and to nature.”
We asked “Why?” and our answers destroyed us.
January 29, 2008
I am a thinker and very consistent one at that. I ponder questions and have numerous wonders every day….many more than any normal man might have in a week or even a month. However, despite my constant questions and pondering in to the workings of the world I have started to come to a very dark and bleak conclusion.
“Knowledge does not bring about freedom, but only seeks to imprison us more.”
You can quote me on that. I don’t mind. Now, before you readers dismiss this as a truly unsound thought let me bring to you an excerpt from a book that I have been reading. The upcoming musings is from the character Giuseppe Baldini who is a pretty significant character in the book “Perfume” which was written by Patrick Suskind. A strange place to find a thought provoking paragraph indeed, but nonetheless it got my intuitive wheels turning and I would like to share this small section with you:
Man’s misfortune stems from the fact that he does not want to stay in the room where he belongs. Pascal said that. And Pascal was a great man, a Frangipani of the intellect, a real craftsman so to speak, and no one wants one of those anymore. People read incendiary books now by Huguenots or Englishmen. Or they write tracts or so-called scientific masterpieces that put anything and everything in question. Nothing is supposed to be right anymore, suddenly everything ought to be different. The latest is that little animals never before seen are swimming about in a glass of water. They say that syphilis is a completely normal disease and no longer the punishment of God. God didn’t make the world in seven days, it’s said, but over millions of years, if it was He at all. Savages are human beings like us; we raise our children wrong; and the earth is no longer round like it was, but flat on the top and bottom like a melon — as if it made a damn bit of difference!
In every field people question and bore and scrutinize and pry and dabble with experiments. It’s non longer enough for a man to say that something is so or how it is so — everything now has to be proven besides, preferably with witnesses and numbers and one or another of these ridiculous experiments. These Diderots and d’Alemberts and Voltaires and Rousseaus or whatever names these scribblers have–there are even clerics among them and gentlemen of noble birth!– they’ve finally managed to infect the whole society with their perfidious fidgets, with their sheer delight in discontent and their unwillingness to be satisfied with anything in this world, in short, with the boundless chaos that reigns in side their own heads!
Now, obviously with the rhetoric used in the excerpt the timeframe in which Baldini is speaking is during the time when man was coming in to the age of expanding science. When man was pushing in to new frontiers through experimentation and constant trial and error. It created a wonderful world that we now live in, but it seems that it only created a beautiful world which we are constantly throwing away.
I don’t mean in the sense of wasteful use like the environmentalist crazies or the global warming alarmists might think, but I believe we are always destroying our own aesthetic creations just as soon as we form them. Just as Baldini said in the very first line “Mans misfortune stems from the fact that he does not want to stay in the room where he belongs” and that is the most truthful comment anyone could have ever said. I could have just written that one line in this post and it might have had a more profound impact than my scattered rantings, but as I said before….I am one of the thinkers and therefore I have to analyze it. I couldn’t just be satisfied with the absolute notion that Pascal had said it, meant it, and just left it alone allowing the purpose of the comment to take its full effect and sink in.
No, I’ve bastardized it with my own brand of interpretation and have ventured in the realm of asking “why?” just as all thinkers do.
Strange isn’t it?
Despite the time era difference has anything in todays world really changed from the world that Baldini spoke of? We’re still just as unsatisfied as the scientists he spoke of and it looks as if there is no real sign of that trend slowing down at all. We live in a world of discontent where we never ever want to be where we are supposed to be, and I think that this perpetual spiral in to a future of never ending questions will see us to our downfall.
Why? Because we cant stop. We are unable to stop, and it is because we cannot find peace with anything that we will refuse to stop. Constantly striving towards understanding everything and destroying the mysteries and wonderments that made life fascinating. I no longer care to analyze the world about me, but have now made a personal decision to only experience it as it had been intended. Whether this life was created by God or by chaotic chance….I no longer will be held a prisoner to the question “Why?” but shall take life for what it is.
Random thought of the day
January 29, 2008
I don’t mean this to be offensive even though I that it probably will be but…
Ladies…please….for the love of god….quit getting short haircuts. Seriously, there is only like 2% of you that can actually pull it off without looking like a bunch of dudes. I just can’t stress this enough. I really REALLY can’t.
Oh, and bangs never ever look good. Ever.
Screw you guys: You ruined my Election
January 25, 2008
Seriously, since Fred Thompson’s exodus from the campaign trail I could give a crap about this election anymore. Considering that the American people just lost the one politician who actually gets it I just don’t see why I should care anymore.
Apparently my country IS filled with idiots. If it wasn’t then why in God’s name is McCain or Huckabee being hailed as the “Republican front runners”. Only stupid people who have no business voting would actually put their support behind those two.
I’m not going to smash on Romney. The mainstream media and the anti-mormon crowd does enough of that. However, I don’t know if I can even vote for him either. He is “conservativy” but I’m not real big on voting for people who are conservative-lite. So, yeah, I’m pretty much disgusted.
So, thanks America, for robbing me of what faith in my countrymen I had left. You did a bang up job.
So, here’s a video for all of you. (except for like a few people and you know who you are)
I’ve never thought Dan Riehl was an idiot or anything of the sort. Ever.
However, his nagging over the fact that “Fredheads” are so zealous about supporting their candidate that they would sit out of the general election is quite a bit much. Not to mention that his complaints do nothing but make him out to seem as if he’s absolutely flipped out. Sorry Dan, but perhaps you need to just sit back for a moment and re-evaluate yourself for just a sec.
I understand where he’s coming from. I do. However, his wants and needs of defeating Hillary in 08′ is forcing him in to the corner of “vote republican just for the sake of defating Hillary”, and I’m going to tell you right now that way of thinking is just as dangerous AS voting for Hillary. Oh, I know what your thinking “OMG Aurvant! That’s just crazy talk! Anyone is better than Hillary! just vote for McCain, Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, [insert RINO here]“, but the truth is that not everyone is better than Hillary. By voting for someone like McCain or Huckabee I wouldn’t be voting for someone based on conservative principles or because they fit the mold of a great conservative candidate. No, I would be voting for them just because everyone else is doing it and that isn’t how I roll.
I don’t care if the Godfather himself, Rush Limbaugh, went up there and cast his ballot for Huckabee or McCain I wouldn’t do it. Not in a million years would I ever vote those two in to the Presidential seat. They aren’t conservatives and I will not sacrifice my own principles just to stick someone in office that isn’t a democrat.
Is this what the rest of the conservative movement is doing? Are they voting for people who are “just good enough” to do the job? This has been one of the most public and politically charged elections in the history of this country, but for some reason I just think that the republicans side is trying to shed the mantle of real conservatism just so they can fit in with the rising leftist progressives. It’s as if everyone on the right is meshing towards one unified group of “moderates” so that they can feel as if they have a fighting chance of winning political power instead of staying true to their convictions.
Ugh….nightmares. I can only hope it never comes to that. Ever.
Science study?: Kids hates clowns — Duh?
January 17, 2008
Click here for Sinistar’s absolutely engaging find.
Seriously, why is grant money being wasted on these “studies”? Hasn’t everyone since the beginning of time and human record hated clowns and their ilk?
I sure know I have. Not that they are scary or anything…..they’re just….creepy. Also, it doesn’t really help that Stephen King (Master of Horror?) wrote a book that involved a supernatural muderous clown that liked to scare the bejeezus out of children, and we Americans had a REAL LIFE murderous clown that liked to kill people and bury them under his house.
Useless trivia nugget: Gacy was a Democratic Party precinct captain. Ominous is it not?
Anyways, Clowns are evil. EVIL! They have ties with Poltergeists, Demonic underworld spirits, Stephen King, Real Life murders, and The Democratic party.
Evil. Pure effin’ Evil.
McCain hopes your an idiot and lives under a rock
January 14, 2008
Wow. Just wow.
McCain obviously either thinks your stupid or blind because anyone who has paid any sort of attention in the last….oh…few YEARS would know that McCain has proudly said in public that he DID NOT support the Bush Tax Cuts and even voted against them.
Yet, he sends out a flyer where he bashes Mitt Romney for not supporting them early enough? That RINO just manages to amaze me everytime he makes an appearance, and not in the good way.
Conservative Fred: There’s a reason why I support him.
January 14, 2008
There are plenty of reasons why I switched my support to Fred exclusively. If you’ve been to his site, heard his debates, and seen his promotional videos on the TV and the net then you’ll know why I’m behind the guy 100%
But every now and then I get a chance to link up a piece of exceptional goodness
It’s always nice to see a candidate who understands the role of government. It’s always nice to see a candidate who has a firm standing in conservative beliefs and who can respond to people who tie in Christ to a politically charged question.
It’s not nice to see the rest of the country continue to be oblivious to how great of a candidate he really is. I hope the people finally take the shroud off and see what a good candidate Fred actually is, but I just don’t really have faith in people anymore. Haven’t in years really.
Maybe he’ll run again in 2012 if 08 isn’t his year. Hopefully, 08 WILL be his year in the end.
UPDATE: Also, another reason I like supporting him is because his supporters are some of the most awesome people ever.

Additions…with an “S”
Yup, got two more i’m going to add to my blogroll.
1st up: Blogs for Fred Thompson and that is as self-explanatory as it can get.
lastly: Without Condition - Ever come across one of those links on a website that might be run or frequented by an aquantince (spelling?) and you find a website that just seems to connect with you? That would be Without Condition.
Thanks goes to Jonolan for having that link on his site so I could happen across it.
I’ve got so much change my pockets are rattling.
January 14, 2008
Change! Change! Change!
By now I’m sure, if you watch any news network or listen to the radio, you’ve heard the constant use of that word being thrown around like it’s the newest drug on the street. I’ve heard Hillary, Edwards, Obama, Giuliani, Huckabee, Romney, Richardson (although he’s GAWN!), and McCain spin that mantra catalyst like an old record. I’ve heard constantly of the “change” this country needs and that each of those candidates are READY TO BRING CHANGE!
*cues loud applause of crowd hearing that phrase*
Ok, ok….but now I’m going to ask you to stop cheering and do something for me. Please think REAL hard about this and ask yourself “change in to what?”
What are they changing? What do they plan to change? What needs to be changed? Why does it need to be changed? And how much of a change should we expect?
These are questions that nobody has yet to ask any of the candidates and quite frankly it scares the crap out of me. It shows that people are desperate for change but they aren’t willing to find out exactly what is being changed. they just want to change for change’s sake and that is the most dangerous type of change of all. Let us look at some topics that people say need some changin’:
- The War : What are they going to change? Are they going to pull out immediately? Extend the War in Iraq for another four years? Abandon a country to create a political vacuum for Iran or some other bat-guano crazy nation to overtake? What exactly do they plan to do?
- Healthcare: What are they going to change? Are we going to move towards a failed system of a single-provider method like Europe and Canada so that we’ll all be stuffed in to medical clinics waiting weeks on end for miniscule procedures while our freedom of medical choice is robbed from us? Or will they finally attack the tort lawyers who make it a habit of chasing ambulances and litigate the pharmacutical companies and the docters so viciously that it FORCES the insurance companies to raise rates to cover all expenses due to malpractice and drug manufacturing.
- Abortion: What will they change? Will they make it nationally legal for women to just abort a child whenever they feel like it? Or will they finally appoint judges who will overturn that horrible law Roe Vs. Wade and place the true burden of decision back upon the people and the states where it belongs.
- Social Security: What will they change? Are they going to expand the social program even further placing an even larger tax burden upon the younger workers in America so they are forced to support tottering old baby boomers who have squandered their lives away instead of planning for their own private retirement? Or will they finally move towards privitization so that the future citizens of this great nation can build their very own personal retirement and be held up by their own boot straps instead of riding the coat-tails of everyone else around them.
- Immigration: What will they change? Will they just throw in the towel on the whole situation and declare amnesty for anyone who decides to just one day cross the border without following the proper laws (FYI that DOES make them criminals)? Or will they finally build the border fence and secure our nation from the continuous mexican invasion which has been proven to also be an unsecure entrance for terrorist activities?
- Terrorism: What will they change? Will they bring our troops home and quit funding the continuous war of terrorism? or will they finally knuckle down and face the enemy they have tried so hard to NOT acknowledge? Will they remove the horrible law of McCain-Feingold, or will they still not allow our security agencies to freely pass information between them so they can work together to further protect our nation?
So much talk of change yet hardly any of them speak of actually changing anything. It’s a whole lot of nonsense that amounts to just pandering to your crowds and getting those applauses you so desperately like to see on national television. Like I said…..
“I’ve got so much change my pockets are rattling.”
A really good argument against Mike Huckabee
January 14, 2008
I’ve already shown you the video a while back of some lady who’s personal vendetta against the Huckster has spilled in to the political world. Heck, I’ll even admit that it changed my whole worldview on the guy. Made me take a step back and take a good look at his overall record and boy am I glad I did.
If your wanting a consistent conservative president…..Mike Huckabee is not it.
- He is soft on immigration and has supported illegals “rights” in Arkansas.
- He got the NEA support in New Hampshire and has been anti-school choice
- His abysmal Clemency records show that he is also soft on punishment for hardened criminals (see video above)
- He raised taxes in Arkansas
- He expanded government in Arkansas
- Aside from his obvious SOCIAL conservatism he is a by-the-book economic liberal. Sorry, but I just can’t vote for a man who rides the fence and only pushes conservatism half-way.
I admit that when he first started hitting the scene before the primaries I was beginning to think he was a great candidate and I rooted for the underdog for a good while…..now I wish I hadn’t.
Random Crap post - Spartans? Techno? Prairie Dogs? Podcasts?
January 11, 2008
Ok, now that I’ve gotten that outta the way. On to business.
I’ve been mulling around the possibility of getting in on the whole audio/video thing. Dunno….maybe podcasting, youtube video rants, or whatever. Not that I care if anyone downloads it (do it or die in a fire :P) but I may give it a shot.
I have no idea how this will turn out or what but, hey, greatness (??) has to start somewhere right? Right?!
Oh well, enjoy the completely annoying yet catchy video above at least.
WTF moment - “Ohhhh, your my sister!”
January 11, 2008
Aside from the corny Joe Dirt reference: Whoa.
Here’s the snippet:
Twins separated at birth and adopted by separate parents later married each other without realising they were brother and sister.
Boy, how weird and disturbing the world works sometimes. They were granted an annulment but that actually sucks on so many levels it isn’t even remotely funny. Imagine finding someone who you fell in love with and planned all these future things together and wanted to start a family and grow old together……only to find out your brother and sister.
Talk about a COLD shower.
Good lord…..the absolute creepy details that could unfold from those two on an night of heavy drinking….Eww.
Anyways, good luck to em’. I think.
Seriously, did this guy wander away from an old folks home or something?
I’m sorry, but I just can’t take this guy anymore. Why is he still in the race again? Why is he NOT in a straitjacket locked up away from society FOREVER?
Are we expected to believe that someone that Ron Paul hired himself wrote his own personal newsletter and filled it with racist and bigoted comments and that “Doctah Paul” had NO IDEA that it was being written? Really? For years even? This is also the same man whos followers are filled with truther and conspiracy addicts that seem to swoon over him like he is the new Marshall Applewhite.
If he is to be believed that he really had no idea that a close personal friend who HE put in charge was writing things like that in his name then what does that say about his ability to stay on top of things as president? Apparently the “only man who can save America” can be “the only man to not save his newsletter”?
Seriously though, toss this guy outta the race. He’s wasting up airtime and we could all be talking about something LESS crazy if he would just quit and leave the race.
Baghdad - It’s now officially seen everything.
January 11, 2008
Yeah, that totally wasn’t what the global warming crowd was wanting to see. Considering that the middle east is the HOTTEST PLACE EVAR, but to hear that they got to see snow for the first time in like…uhhh….have they ever had snow since the last ice age?
That’s just awesome. To be honest? I’m kinda envious they got to see snow this year before I did. Sure, it gets cold enough here to snow but well…NO PRECIPITATION. No freakin water….sucks.
Oh well, maybe we’ll get a miracle too. Lord knows that snow in baghdad is pretty close.
Artist of the new age or “Grossest thing i’ve ever learned”?
January 11, 2008
Yeah, I’m going to have to go with the latter on that one.
You know….there are things in thie world that I learn every day that I wish I hadn’t. Yes, there are things I wish to “unlearn” and quite frankly it is depressing to me that I know that I can never ever EVER remove that newstory from my psyche. Sure, I can forget about it in a day or so, but the damage it caused will always remain.
Always.
Here’s a little snippet from Newsbusters:
Now we can add a new outrage to the world of “art” with the exhibit of Spent by “performance, installation” artist Jordan McKenzie that features the artist’s ejaculation patterns on paper, sprinkled with colored powder to make the stream visible, then framing bunches of them on a wall.
Yeah, now that horrid image is stuck in YOUR head now. Is this some type of liberal “throw all inhibitions to the wind and LIVE” mindset that causes this type of awful example of psychosis? Seriously, if this guy had done this even 20 years ago I am fairly certain that he would have been carted off to a looney bin and would have been locked away for a long long time.
The fact that he ISN’T being seen as some insane douchenozzle disturbs me. It disturbs me greatly.
Oh, and if a “yellow snow” art exhibit ever pops up I think I might just have to gouge my own eyes out with a fork.
If you said “All three of the top Democrat candidates?” then….You are correct, sir!
They did have a few honorable mentions in there, but I am kinda disappointed that they didn’t at least give Amanda Marcotte one of those HM awards. Apparently her little debacle while working for the Edwards campaign has already been forgotten, but then again I’m pretty sure that nobody really remembers who she is now anyways.
Well, I do but thats because she thought that it was appropriate to insult the entire Catholic league and then went on a few month tirade of how she hated everything “Christian” and faith based. Oh well, maybe next year Amanda.
I’m also kinda surprised that they didn’t at least mention “Bill Clinton” because lord knows he’s taken his fair share of shots at the conserative side. Especially now that he’s been on the campaign trail with his wife, but then again….he DOES have to spend time with her so maybe not completely crushing his spirit by exposing him as a total liberal douche is what is keeping him from completely losing touch with reality. I know that I couldn’t have put up with that cackling beast like he has….
Oh well, check out the list. I guarantee a chuckle.
Support Blu-Ray : If you don’t then God have mercy on your soul.
January 5, 2008
Har har, but in all seriousness this format war needs to end. Now. With Warner Bros. now switching to BR exclusiveness (and New-Line just went with them) the only studios left to try and defend the failing and inferior HD-DVD format is Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks.
Why would anyone be stupid enough to continue supporting the HD-DVD format? for giggles? I’m sorry, but to hear people so fervently support something that is circling the drain faster than Britney Spears just makes my eyes bleed with anger and hatred. Yes, my tears of blood scream in the presence of mass ignorance.
SO! Do me and everyone else who has been waiting for a unified HD format a favor and stop supporting HD-DVD and please switch to Blu-Ray. Seriously, do you want to be left behind when technology comes around again and swoops us all up in to the HD era and your not on the bus? No, i don’t think you do.
So, get on the bus people. Now. I’d like my eyes to stop bleeding now.
That totally pulled Huckabee ad got played on Fox but it was still SO totally pulled.
January 3, 2008
You would think that an ad that was supposed to be canned would have been, in fact, completely canned and NOT sent out to news outlets where it would be shown in its entirety over and over and over again. The Huckabee HQ claims to have “missed the memo” but i’m not buying that. In the ad’s defense it isn’t as bad as many of the media is letting on but it does hit quite deftly below the belt and seems far too abrasive coming from the man who claimed that he was running on a more lighthearted campaign.
This is why I will vote for Fred. He hasn’t stooped down to the level of petty mudslinging and the reason is pretty self explanatory really. If Fred had even glared at another candidate the wrong way they would have just quit the race immediately out of sheer fright, but he doesn’t cause he wants to give them a “fighting chance”.
