Unfunny, failed, ignorant whore practically commits Blasphemy at Emmy Awards.
I’m obviously talking about Kathy Griffin.
Click the link above to see the video that is guaranteed to make you cringe. What is that an example of? Someone who has pretty much lived a life of bitter failure and ridicule taking it out on the one person who had nothing to do with her own shortcomings. She pretty much insults Jesus in the most offensive way that a person could could insult someone who can put on his resume “Son of God”.
I’m not sure but if it was possible for a person to carve out their own personal niche in Hell I’m pretty certain that Kathy Griffin just build herself a mansion of torment in that Dark Place where the Worn Never Dies and the Fire is Never Quenched.
Seriously, I couldn’t stand to hear it due to the skin crawling effect it sent down my spine. I’m hoping for some kind of divine retribution but her getting her spotlight stolen at the Emmy’s is a start.
Do you honestly think that Jesus gives a damn (no pun intended) about a trivial entertainment trophy? The only insulting thing here, as far as I can tell, is the use of “suck it Jesus” infront of a band of middle-Americans. That is stupid, yet her born right.
The goal of that comment was not blasphemy. She was poking fun at the triviality of people who thank Jesus for every single thing they do once they get in front of a microphone. Got a touchdown? Thank Jesus! Did your high school football team win? Thank Jesus! Got a #1 CD? Thank Jesus! She was bringing light to the rediculousness of it all.
As far as blasphemy, which I don’t think it was, so what if you think it was blasphemous? There is no exception for blasphemy in free speech everyone. If you think it is blasphemous to your god or gods, then don’t say it yourself.
Why do you hate America and freedom of speech? What is it that you really have to fear?
If all sin is equally punishable, what is to keep you from your own “mansion of torment” for being judgemental?
Quick replies. I’ll keep it short so you guys don’t have to strain yourselves from reading too much. Kay? kay!
Eric) We all poke fun at the triviality of people thanking Jesus because they won some award, and we realize at times that these people are just throwing about PR fluff. However, as Kathy Griffin often shows, she wasn’t funny or witty in the least. She was just taking a pot shot without thinking before she spoke.
Shrimplate) I love America. I just dislike most of the people running it and living in it. Why? Because most of them are pretentious progressive hypocrites who seek to twist the constitution and the founding principles to some socialistic and perverse realm of a nation. Quit using the Freedom of Speech argument to try and trump a conversation. Fine, she has the right to say what she wants, but with freedom comes responsibility and consequences.
Davinci) Ha ha. Nice bait response. I’ll bite though. Next is a quote about the discernment between proper judgment and improper judgment.
“The Lord’s admonition to “judge not” in Matthew 7:1 uses the Greek word krino, the meaning of which–according to W.E. Vine’s “Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words”–is this: “primarily denotes to separate, select, choose; hence, to determine, and so to judge, pronounce judgment.” (emphasis mine). In other words the admonition is for us not to sit as a judge and pronounce sentence upon a person–to harshly condemn them–particularly if we are using ourselves as the standard. It does not mean, however, that we must refrain from observing others and forming opinions about the validity of their profession of faith. It does not mean that pastors should refrain from warning their flocks about doctrinal error in other men’s ministries. One of the biggest lies of the devil is that unity must be preserved through the abolishment of all criticism.”
I never sentenced Griffin to anything nor did I, truthfully, wish any harsh punishment upon her. Aside from obvious satire (the niche in hell comment.) which my posts are always riddled with there isn’t any form of improper judgment that I had placed upon her. She IS unfunny, her statements are usually filled with inaccurate and ignorant information, and her career has (in hollywood standards) been a downward spiral ever since it started. The one statement I could be called on is the “whore” one. So, 3 out of 4 ain’t bad is it?
However, I’m not above admitting when I’m wrong (so rare that it is) and i’ll say I was incorrect that she is a whore. Unfunny, failed, and ignorant yes, but a whore? nah.
Oh, sorry that it was a long reply. Guess I just don’t know how not to crush people with insurmountable rhetoric. Oh well. Caio~
Hi Aurvant, see she’s just a comedian, maybe not a very funny one, but that’s US comedians for you! Now Eddie Izzard – he does blasphemy REALLY well. Mind you I hear he’s becoming popular in the mainstream over there now, so I hope he doesn’t forget his roots! Christians should do what Jesus would do, and turn the other cheek…
Hey now. There are plenty of funny US comedians, but Griffin just isn’t one of them. However, that wasn’t my point in my original post though. People continue to let her comment slide because “she’s a comedian” and “she was just poking at people who thank God for trivial things”, but that’s just it though….she WASN’T actually trying to make a joke or get a few chuckles out of people.
Her comments were loaded and charged just enough so she could get under peoples skin. She wasn’t trying to be funny….she meant what she said.
As for Eddie Izzard, I am quite familiar with his comedy and I find him to be hilarious. Granted that I haven’t seen EVERY show he has ever done I have seen all of his major shows that I can catch over here and through DVD’s. I’ve heard his jokes and even so his religious references are taboo and have been, from what i’ve heard, harmless and jest.
But thats the difference between the two. Izzard isn’t verbally attacking anyone with his references. Griffin was specifically denouncing a single religious figure with an obscene request. Quite a bit of a difference there.
Well, you’ll have to excuse my simplistic approach, I’m not known as a deep thinker. Still can’t get round the obvious though; either Jesus is alive, but he loves Kathy Griffin, so he won’t mind her comments, or Jesus is not alive, so Christianity is a big sham, and it doesn’t matter anyway.
Well, lets look at it this way. Jesus is the Son of God and he also said “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father”. What does this have to do with Griffin’s comments? Well, that part is easy.
If God is the father of all creation (and he is) then would it ever seem appropriate or justifiable to say anything like what Kathy Griffin to your father? He DID create all life so it would be quite stupid to say something that offensive to a being that had brought you in to existence.
Or what about your own physical father here on earth? Would you ever say things like that to him? Would you ever shake your fist at your own father and mother and say stuff like could hurt their feelings? I would hope not. However, even if you or someone else did do you not always see cases where rebellious children thumb their noses at their parents but their parents still love them anyways?
That is the same with God/Jesus. He may still love you just as a parent loves their own flesh and blood, but that doesn’t mean that your words or actions don’t bring him grief. Not only does it bring him grief but, like a parent would, he has to make judgments based on your actions. So, if God is deciding your eternal future not only on your belief but also on your actions do you not think that God will frown and think harshly of people who had squandered his love and taken him for granted? For someone to say such things about God/Jesus is unjust, selfish, and I cannot begin to guess how such actions will be looked upon when her own time comes to look at God face to face.
