Military Analyst uses “absolute moral authority” to try and smear Bush

Not surprising considering it IS MSNBC that he works for.

He goes on a completely biased, one page rant about how Bush, using the example of Vietnam, fabricated history by claiming that the deaths in Cambodia were a result of the pullout in Vietnam.

Among other things, he suggested that the proximate cause of the genocide in Cambodia was our withdrawal from Vietnam. Absolute nonsense. The Khmer Rouge’s murderous regime established itself long before the American combat presence in Vietnam ended.

Sure did bud, but without us there who was going to stop them? Yeah, nobody. So back up and punt there army boy.

So, Bush’s speech is infuriating: his argument that we should not abandon Iraq precipitously is fundamentally a good one, but he undermines a militarily sound course of action with specious nonsense that is demonstrably false, easily refuted by any sentient being with a passing knowledge or understanding of recent history.

Actually you both are kinda false. The Vietnamese government fell two years later but historians have constantly asserted that the reason for this was because they had NO SUPPORT in trying to stabilize what had become a very unstable region. Americans pulled out of Vietnam, not because we couldn’t win it, but because Congress and the politicians couldn’t run the war. They have tried to run the Iraqi War, and like Vietnam, their interference has caused a huge problem on the battlefield.

Do you think that if the USA left Iraq that the government would crumble in a day? Highly doubtful…it would probably take about a year or more before it finally lost control of all of it’s regions. Probably following the same timeline that the Vietnamese government took when they eventually fell out of power.

Oh, check out the italicized text below the story. They drag out the analysts war record just so you know that “he knows what hes talking about”. Another example of the Sheehan/Cleland absolute moral authority BS that the MSM likes to throw around.
