August 10, 2007 Aurvant Leave a comment

God I love this song. I remember hearing this for the first time on an Episode of “Scrubs” (Season 3, episode 14, “My Screwup”) and it has just stuck with me ever since. If your having lunch and reading this page just click the video and mellow out.

You’ll love it I assure you.

Murtha’s office doesn’t like being asked about the Haditha Marines.

Click here for audio and teh funny

In case your memory isn’t working right or you haven’t figured out why this is important or funny let me refresh your memory. Back when the case first appeared regarding the killings in Haditha Rep. Jack Murtha, who was quite talkative at the time, basically blackballed these marines and accused them of atrocious crimes against humanity. Given the fact that he made such claims with basically no information on the case whatsoever I find it to be divine justice that these Marines were let off the hook for a crime they didn’t commit.

Besides, Mr. Abscam has other problems on top of this one. Looks like he’s been getting fat off pork plates lately.

Evidence – Global Warming flooded ancient settlements!!…sorta

You know I just had to go there.

All joking aside this kinda stuff intrigues me. Turns out that divers found an old old village in the English channel that dates back around 8000 years ago. Back then Britain was still linked to Europe by a land bridge. Glaciers melted and then the water rose and voila! settlement floods and they have to run to higher ground.

The site, just off the Isle of Wight, dates back 8,000 years, not long before melting glaciers filled in the Channel and likely drove the settlement’s last occupants north to higher ground.

Interesting. Reports says they found ovens and flints and tons of stuff down there, but other than that they don’t really have any idea what the place looked like.

Still, ancient findings are awesome and I figured this was geeky enough for me to consider it “news worthy”

08 Election – Hillary defends her stance on Healthcare

And comes away a bit abrasive. HotAir has an article and video up on it too.

As an opponent of the idea of Universal Healthcare and Socialized Medicine (I know they are practically the same thing, but im not going to argue against it here.) I have to say that I find Clinton’s marks just as misleading as she claims the critic was. She said that she was never a proponent to Socialized Medicine and that she has never advocated the idea of implementing a system like that.

Really?

Everyone forget Hillarycare?

One of the goals of the Clinton Health Care System was that the patients would be settled in to government controlled and watched HMO programs and that people would be given designated physicians. The difference between Hillarycare and the single payer system that makes up socialized medicine? Clinton figured out how to get the government out of paying the bill. Her original healthcare system made it so that you, the insured, were still paying for the service through your workplace (as you most do now) however you lose the ability to choose your physicians or hospitals in which you want care.

In other words, Clinton wanted to create a system that was controlled by the government yet not funded by the government. Facism? Yeah, it is. It’s privately funded yet government controlled and owned. Not really beneficial to the insured.

I’ve gotten a bit off base, but I was trying to focus on the topic and not the reaction. If you want to see the reaction just click on the link to HotAir above. She pretty much calls the guy a moron and she then directs him over to her staff where he can be “re-educated and he could stop the rhetoric”

Hero Lady – Strangles attacking Raccoon with bare hands

August 10, 2007 Aurvant 2 comments

This is one tough woman.

I pride myself on being a pretty tough guy but there is nooooo way I could have strangled a raccoon with my bare hands. The animal came out and bit the 5-year old son of a friend, and the heroic woman reached down and picked up the animal and just strangled it to death.

“She had the presence of mind to choke it,” animal control officer April Leiler told the Record-Journal of Meriden. “She is one tough lady

No kidding. The Terminator probably couldn’t have done a better job. Ever seen a raccoon in action? It’s like a chainsaw with legs. Hats off to this lady. She gets the “Woman of the Month” award in my book.

Related: Here’s some examples of why Raccoons’ are so dangerous. I am very impressed.

Sneaky little bandit looking bastards.

News – A Step in the right direction.

Thanks be to HotAir for this.

It’s not going to stop the problems it’s trying to address, but as HotAir points out, it’s a step in the right direction. I was wondering when the youth of Islam was going to turn around and begin showing disdain for the fanatical criminals that inhabit their faith, and this video has been the closest thing to showing me that there might actually just be moderates within Islam.

I shall also concede. The tune is catchy.

It’s a big hit in Pakistan too.
