War in Iraq – Some Inconvenient Truths

August 8, 2007 Aurvant 4 comments

Bet you thought this would be left leaning didn’t you.

Well, it’s bad news here for anyone thats a Democrat or Liberal. Let us continue reading along and find uot JUST what I mean. Let’s run down the first inconvenient truths for some people like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy. First up! the surge.

First, one of the principal purposes of the surge is to persuade the Iraqi population that we are going to stay in their neighborhoods until the Iraqi army and police can take over and bring an end to violence. Only when they have confidence that we will not abandon them to the terrorists will Iraqis come forward—as they now appear to be doing—with information about who among them are the terrorists, militia members and other killers, and where they can be found.

What do you think is going to happen if our soldiers abandon these Iraqis and just leave as the Democrats wish to do? Do you think they will look at us in a good light or a bad one? If we abandon them…they will never forgive us.

Lets look at #2:

Second, although Senator Reid and other war opponents can glibly claim that there is no hope that an independent Iraq can survive, there is one group that is truly expert on that question, and they clearly don’t believe it. That group consists of the Iraqis who are now in the Iraqi government—from Prime Minister al-Maliki on down—who risk their lives and the lives of their families every day that they serve. They are Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds, and all of them are targets of the insurgency and the terrorists of al Qaeda. What motive could these dedicated Iraqis possibly have to place themselves in such a position unless they believe that they can keep the country together and in the end produce a peaceful and unified state?

Exactly. why would we claim that an independant Iraq can’t survive when the Iraqi Government (you know…the people that run the place) claim that a stable Iraq can be a reality. The Iraqi government doesn’t want us to abandon them so why does Reed and all of his ilk so desperately wish to leave?

Numbah 3:

if—as seems apparent now—the surge is succeeding, opponents of the war are going to be hard-pressed to make the case for abandoning Iraq, even if there is no Shi’ite-Sunni political settlement in sight. The inconvenient truth here is that, apart from the irreconcilable Left, the American people’s support for withdrawal has been based on an assessment that we were losing the war. If that no longer seems true, support for withdrawal will melt away.

Bingo. that’s exactly what this all stems from. The Democratic leaders know that if the people of this country started seeing that we are winning in Iraq as opposed to losing as the MSN and the Democrats have said….well….the Dems would be stuck between a rock and a hard place. the Left clings to the notion that America is “losing” because they abhor anything regarding the military. They make it their purpose to try and defame the military because they are, and very proud of it, Anti-War/Anti-Military. However, the majority of people of America are not Anti-Military and pretty much all of them hate to lose. Americans are born winners and if the people start getting wind that we are actually kicking ass over there?

Well….lets just say the troops will have all the support they need.

Betrayal – 9/11 monument being built to honor…the enemy?

August 8, 2007 Aurvant 7 comments

Thanks to Nice Deb for bringing this to my attention.

The monument in question was once named “The Crescent of Embrace” and it’s structure is centered around the faith of Islam. It’s like a giant open mosque in a sense and why anyone would build this thing is beyond me. However, that’s not the worst part. It’s being renamed from “The Crescent of Embrace” to the “Flight 93 Memorial”.

That’s right. An islamic monument is being built in honor of the United 93 plane that was destroyed during the attacks on 9/11. Anyone remember who the attackers were? Thats right….Muslims. Looks like they are building this thing NOT to honor the American citizens and victims who were killed by the followers of Islam, but instead the monument seems to be being built to honor the terrorists.

Here’s the link to the final draft of a book called “The Crescent of Betrayal”. I suggest people click that link and read the book. The word needs to get out and this travesty must not go unchallenged.

News!! – Video shows Iranian weapons used by Iraqi insurgents.

August 8, 2007 Aurvant 1 comment

Guess we have all the proof we need now.

I think the naysayers can finally stop trying to deny that Iran is involved with Iraqi insurgents. I’m pretty sure this means that Iran is helping another nation attack United States soldiers, and I’m damn sure that it classifies as an “act of war”. We have tried to prove over and over again that Iran was involved with the insurgency, but the Democrats and many on the left just tried to say that the Republicans were lying. Tehran has repeatedly denied this as well.

Well…..looks like Iran got caught with it’s hands in the cookie jar on this one.

The bombs fire white hot slugs that can cut through the heavy armor on Humvees. Intelligence officials said EFPs are being used almost exclusively by Shiite Militias. The U.S. has repeatedly claimed that it has evidence Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard is smuggling the weapons into the country — a claim Tehran has repeatedly denied.

Well, we have video now Tehran. How are you going to back your way out of this one?

News – 35W Bridge’s problems began in the 90’s

August 8, 2007 Aurvant 1 comment

Looks as if Inspectors were raising concerns and questions about the bridge as early as 1996

The bridge has been under lots of scrutiny lately because many democratic politicians and liberal lefties are blaming the collapse on a weak funded infrastructure. They claim that the infrastructure has been underfunded because money is being “siphoned” in to the War in Iraq and, by transit of property, the Left claims that it’s in some indirect way “Bush’s Fault”.

Well, let see if that tune changes now that the complaints actually stem from the Clinton era. I, personally, don’t think anyone is to blame other than the core of engineers that are responsible for maintaining the structures in Minneapolis and the local city and state governments that are responsible for keeping the bridges and roads up to date.

There was even a recommendation back in 2000 that the bridge needed to be replaced.

State engineers recommended in 2000 that the Interstate 35W bridge that collapsed last week be replaced or redecked, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Wednesday.

Well then. We can all point fingers at each other and say everyone else is to blame, but we have to look at the facts. The state ignored the recommendations by the state engineers and now a major bridge-way is sitting at the bottom of the river and eight people are still missing. Perhaps we need to look back at what money that is set aside for maintaining roadways and bridges was actually being spent on in 1996.

The MSM will probably set this one out and then bury it under more political rhetoric and bush blaming. They’ve already begun blaming him for this one anyways, but at least CNN is somewhat trying to shut up all those Bush blaming liberals who think he is the cause of everyones problems.

“The Man With the Million Dollar Balls”

Gotta give it to TIME….they’re obviously trying to get their clicks today.

It’s about Todd Mcfarlene and his obsession with buying the record breaking baseballs that athletes break the records on. He’s quite the baseball fan and he’s spent a hefty amount of cash trying to get his hands on some pretty expensive record breaking hits. He’s made the news because back in 2003 he spent over $500,000 to get his hands on the record breaking 73rd home run ball that Barry Bonds hit.

TIME wanted to know if he was going to pony up the cash for the 756th homer to break Hank Aarons record:

No, the ball that’s interesting to me is the last one Barry hits. That becomes the new number they print in the record books. 756 is cool, but 62 was cool when McGwire hit it, and I put my money on 70. This one is a pretty good ball. It’s a helluva-story ball. It’s a conversation-starter ball. But it’s not the ball. If you’re going to spend gobs of money, why not wait until the end?

I kinda agree with him. Wouldn’t you rather have the ball that “sets” the record rather than the one that “breaks” it?

I took a quiz today….

You scored as Anarcho-Capitalist, Anarcho-capitalism is perhaps more closely linked the libertarian tradition than anarchism as it favours a free market and a stateless society. Private businesses would replace the functions of the state. This form of anarchism is largely an American phenomenon and first emerged in the 1950s (although it arguably has its roots in 19th century individualist anarchism and classical liberalism). Key thinkers include Murray Rothbard.

Anarcho-Capitalist
100%
Christian Anarchist
75%
Anarcho-Communist
30%
Anarcho-Syndicalist
30%
Anarcha-Feminist
20%
Anarcho-Primitivist
5%

What kind of Anarchist are you?
created with QuizFarm.com

I’m not exactly sure how any of that is considered “Anarchist” but whatevah. I found the link on an opposing bloggers site and I decided how I would come out in the test. As expected…I’m a Capitalist. I didn’t need a test to tell me this, but hey….I get a nifty little picture on my site now and it’s a GOLD DOLLAR SIGN.

Awesome.

Still, the “anarcho-” parts confuse me considering I don’t consider myself “anarchist” in any fashion. Government and establishments are necessary, but they should be limited and bound by the rule of law.

Yay individualism.

War in Iraq – This is why we must Win

August 8, 2007 Aurvant Leave a comment

To save these people from the hell that Saddam had created.

Do please click that link and read the whole interview. It was one of the most moving and heartbreaking interviews I have ever read. the Insurgents and Al Qaeda are trying to bring the hell that some of the people have escaped from back in to their country. The Iraqi Interpretor that is being interviewed explains just a few of the atrocities that he had seen while under Saddam’s reign as dictator.

It was crazy life, like feeling safe inside a jail. If they sent you to an actual jail nothing changed. They arrested everyone, literally everyone, for no reason and sent them to jail for two weeks just so they could see the jail.

Arrested people just so they could. Saddam was an animal and the guy being interviewed doesn’t spare on the gruesome details. At one point he explains that he had to basically bribe a judge to lower his sentence of 3 years to 3 months by paying him 50,000 dollars and then some. Saddam created a money hungry society….a lawless society. The left likes to blame America for creating the problems in Iraq. The liberals like to claim that we have created an unstable nation in the region, but this is what this Iraqi had to say about it:

No. You can’t blame it on the Americans. Iraqis are number one at fault for this mess. They are greedy and will do anything for money. They are like people who were in jail for 30 years, were suddenly set free, were given money, then had their money taken away. What will they do next? They will kill for money. They are selfish.

Wow. He says life is like being set free from prison after 30 years. The people just don’t know what to do with all that freedom they now could possibly have. The part about his son is awesome though:

He wants to be an American soldier. He has his chair in his room with an American flag on it. Has a toy M-4. He has a little uniform that I got at the P/X.

When he sees Saddam he curses Saddam. I never told him to do that. He does this himself. When he holds his toy gun he says he will kill the insurgents. He wants to go to Disneyland. His hero is Arnold Schwartznegger – not the Terminator, but Arnold Schwartznegger. He has all his movies.

I hope this interpretor gets a greencard and he can finally come to America where he can finally realize his dreams of freedom for himself, his family, and his son.

News – Global Warming..Island?

August 8, 2007 Aurvant Leave a comment

At least that’s what one guy calls it.

Explorer Dennis Schmitt found an island nearly two years ago near Greenland.

He calls his discovery Warming Island.

Yeah, a guy found an island that appeared after parts of a glacier melted and he is literally calling it “Warming Island”. I know the Global Warming debate is really popular right now, but I think this guy has taken it just a step too far. Despite the fact that part of a glacier melted and an island appeared I don’t think it’s nescessary to jump the gun and start naming landmasses after controversial theories. After all many well respected scientists and climatologists are beginning to find evidence that the Sun, and it’s increase in sunspots, are the cause in temperature change. Sunspots directly effect the weather here on Earth, so i’m willing to bank money on those first.

But seriously, what’s next? CO2 Peninsula? Greenhouse mountain?

News – Baghdad diarist admits he’s a phony

August 8, 2007 Aurvant Leave a comment

Click for news article.

Ace has been following this for over a week now. Do scroll down and read what Ace had been keeping up with on this ignorant prick Beauchamp. He and his readers had suspected the guy to be a phony from the start, but TNR just wouldn’t admit that they had been printing garbage. Good to see that the truth finally came out in the end.

The Weekly Standard has learned from a military source close to the investigation that Pvt. Scott Thomas Beauchamp — author of the much-disputed “Shock Troops” article in the New Republic’s July 23 issue as well as two previous “Baghdad Diarist” columns — signed a sworn statement admitting that all three articles he published in the New Republic were exaggerations and falsehoods — fabrications containing only “a smidgen of truth,” in the words of our source.

A “smidgen” you say? As it turns out only about 2% of those stories were actually factual and none of it had to do with any of the false atrocities that Beauchamp was writing about. About the only thing in the TNR story that was accurate was that Beauchamp was, in fact, a soldier. All that other “shock troop” stuff that he was writing? complete and utter bull.

The real kicker? The New Republic wasn’t even really checking up on the story to see if it was accurate. They were just printing up garbage that could hopefully be used as hit pieces against the American military and the War in Iraq. Turns out the little prick was just making it all up.

Court marshal and being disavowed is too lenient of a punishment. Not sure if this falls under treason, and I doubt it does, but to have a soldier speaking out falsely against his own country and military? I think jail time is in order.

HotAir has the video up here.

Man i’m glad to see this moron and that garbage magazine get it handed to them.
