Ohhh yeaaaaaaaah.

That is just awesome and the only thing I can ask is “What took you guys so long?” I know they are sending these things on the front lines to help with urban battles, but what I want to know is why we aren’t marching these things lined up down the streets to, and quote me on this, “Smite our enemies with divine mechanized Judgment”. They call it “The Sword” and there is nothing more righteous sounding than that.

  1. This is awesome. Every day, real-life science brings us closer and closer to actually living inside some really badass anime.

Next up, actual Mobile Suit Gundams. I call dibs!

Seriously, though, wouldn’t robotic fighting machines help to cut down on human casualties of war? They should.

  2. They might very well cut down the casualties of war. And I don’t mean that in terms of ‘fewer American deaths’. I mean fewer casualties overall. If a soldier is confronted by a mob, within which there may be people with guns, his (or her, but I’m not typing his/her every time) fear for his own life (an entirely rational thing) may make him shoot an innocent person, or open fire when he doesn’t have to. If the soldier is in fact in a secure ‘command bunker’, driving one of these things, then all that need influence his ’shoot/dont shoot’ decision is whether it is necessary and appropriate. Imminent personal danger and an automatic weapon is never a safe combination to put near civilians, no matter how good the soldiers are. Removing that danger will cut down on the number of civilian deaths.
